He joined the KenGen Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme (KenGen SRBS) in July 2021 and currently serves as the Ag. Senior Investment Officer in-charge of Investments department. He is an accomplished Finance and investment professional with over nine years of experience spanning investment management, portfolio analysis, financial management, risk management, budgeting, taxation, audit, financial reporting and pension fund accounting. In his current role, he is responsible for implementing the Scheme's investment strategy, overseeing portfolio performance, asset allocation, fund manager oversight and ensuring compliance with the Investment Policy Statement and regulatory requirements. Maraka holds a Master of Science in Finance and Investment and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Option, First Class Honours) both from The University of Nairobi.

He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) of good standing. He is currently pursuing the Certified Investment and Financial Analyst (CIFA) qualification with the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (ICIFA) and an Advanced Diploma in Tax Administration at the Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA). Prior to joining the Investment function at KenGen SRBS, Maraka served as an Accountant within the Scheme. He previously worked as a Senior Auditor at Taxmart Kenya and in the Management Accounting function at the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen PLC).
